Until You Know
I’ll find you in the recesses of your mind
and with my hands I’ll pull you from
the dark and dust you off.
I’ll show you where the sun sits,
so you will always be warm.
I’ll shelter you so you don’t get burned,
and then I’ll let you in.
I’ll build you a house; you’ll feel at home.
I’ll be tender with you.
I’ll nuture you and watch you grow.
I’ll write you poems
and sing you songs
until you know
you are loved.
You’ll throw yourself against me,
and you’ll break open.
I’ll put you back together.
I’ll pick you up and hold you
until you know,
you are loved.
